Dying Light 2 is there Vehicles

Dying Light 2 No Vehicles: Are There Cars, Trucks, Boats, Helicopters or Planes?

Many players are wondering if Dying Light 2 has cars and trucks. The original game didn’t launch with vehicles, but the buggy became a big part of it with The Following expansion. We’ll look at whether or not players can traverse the streets of Villedor on wheels.

Are there any drivable vehicles in Dying Light 2?

There aren’t any drivable vehicles in Dying Light 2. Unlike the in-game reason for there not being any firearms, this actually makes a lot of sense from an in-world and gameplay point of view. Vehicles are complex machines, and without at least periodic maintenance, even a stored car or truck will refuse to start after a few years. There are plenty of wearable parts that are designed to only have a certain lifespan and things like seals that will dry and crack over time.

So, after twenty years with no access to major industry, most, if not all, modern vehicles would be inoperative. Furthermore, they would be salvaged for parts to maintain other vehicles or to use as building material. Most of the remaining cars we see in Villedor are just hulks that have been mostly disassembled. The ones that are mostly intact, like armored vehicles, still probably don’t run.

There’s also not much incentive for the survivors of Villedor to repair vehicles. The undead pretty much rule ground level, and most people keep to the rooftops to travel across the city. Sure, they could probably cobble together a loud, unreliable car or truck by scavenging the remaining vehicles, but what good would it do? It would immediately attract zombies that would rip it open and munch on anyone inside.

The gameplay reason for no cars in Dying Light 2 is because there’s just no reason for them. The streets are tight enough that it would be frustrating to try and drive in them, and it would detract from the parkour experience.
