Uncharted movie post-credits scene explained

Uncharted Movie Ending Explained

The Uncharted movie ending and all its various post-credits scenes help set up the events of the games — specifically, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The ending of the movie, before any teases, sees Magellan’s ships sink into the sea along with most of the treasure. However, Nate and Sully see that a salvage ship will basically be able to get all that treasure, giving them the idea for their salvage enterprise in the games.

The final scene of the movie, right before the credits, shows Nathan’s brother Sam alive and in a foreign jail cell, writing postcards to Nate and warning him to “watch his back.” This is a setup for Uncharted 4 and a possible Uncharted movie sequel, as the PS4 game begins with a scene set before the first game that sees Nate and Sam infiltrating a Panamanian jail — which goes wrong, leading Nate to believe his brother is dead. Presumably, Nathan learns his brother is alive and goes after him.

The post-credits scene — or mid-credits scene to be accurate — is set a while after the movie and plays as a prequel to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Sully has his trademark mustache, and both the code on Nate’s ring and a Nazi map are mentioned, all of which are important to the first game. A man called Roman is also mentioned, who is Gabriel Roman, the lead villain of Uncharted 1. Nate and Sully are seemingly caught, although the scene ends on a cliffhanger as to who they actually meet. There is certainly enough setup here for an Uncharted movie sequel, although hopefully it won’t get too close to the first game.
