Hocus Pocus 2 Soundtrack: What Are the Songs the Witches Sing?

Hocus Pocus 2 landed on Disney Plus this morning (September 30, 2022), packed full of throwbacks and nods to the 1993 original while dealing a dose of modernized witchy fun for fans who have waited almost 30 years for the sequel. After singing their own version of I Put a Spell on You in the classic film, audiences wondered whether or not the Sanderson Sisters would be treating them to more vocal stylings on the Hocus Pocus 2 soundtrack. Lucky for us, they performed not one, but two original takes of pop-rock classics. Here’s what Winifred, Mary, and Sarah sing this time around.

Which songs do the witches sing on the Hocus Pocus 2 soundtrack?

Though Hocus Pocus 2 takes place in the present day, after a flashback to the childhood of the Sanderson Sisters, the songs that Winnie, Mary, and Sarah sing are ripped straight from the ’70s. The first we hear is a revamped version of Elton John’s The Bitch Is Back, complete with lyrics such as “we were running wild, and so reviled, raising Cain until we got exiled,” and “yeah the witches, the witches, the witches are back, stone cold meanies as a matter of fact.” It’s a hilarious reintroduction to the mischievous trio as they are brought back from the dead following the lighting of a new Black Flame Candle.

Then, around halfway through the movie, the witches are on the hunt for Salem’s mayor. It’s at this point they take to the stage once more, casting a spell on the “villagers” so that they will lead them to their prey. Blondie’s One Way Or Another leads their incantation of choice, as they bewitch the crowd and get one step closer to their ultimate goal of destroying Salem for good.
