Alice in Borderland Season 2 has now finally arrived on Netflix, after multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we don’t yet know if there will be a third season of the hit Japanese sci-fi thriller, after watching all eight episodes of Season 2, we can confirm who didn’t make it out of this new batch of deadly games alive. Perhaps the most heartbreaking death of all in Alice in Borderland Season 2, is that of Tatta. The former mechanic sacrifices his life to save those of his friends, in the first game of the season we watch take place. Repeatedly crushing his arm in the door of a shipping container so that he can remove a mechanical bracelet secured to his wrist, he learns that Arisu, Usagi, Kuina, and Aguni have beaten the game, before succumbing to major blood loss. In losing this game, The King of Clubs, Kyuma, and his team are all killed.
Some of the deaths we see, however, are a little more satisfying. Finally watching Shīrabi, The King of Spades, and Mira, The Queen of Hearts get their comeuppance for example, will probably elicit cheering and whooping from many of those watching at home. Others, like Kuzuryū, The King of Diamonds, have more of a complicated history, and so their deaths hurt perhaps a little more than you would expect.
What is surprising is just how many members of the main group of protagonists survive. Of course, if Alice in Borderland is renewed for a third season, they may not be so lucky when they go up against the Joker.
