Wild Hearts vs. Monster Hunter Rise: Differences and Which Is Best

Wild Hearts has been compared to Monster Hunter since its announcement in September 2022. But while the inspiration is clear, many people will find it hard to decide which one would win in a Wild Hearts vs. Monster Hunter Rise showdown. We’ve gathered the key differences so you can decide which game is for you.

How Wild Hearts is different from Monster Hunter Rise

The major differences between Wild Hearts and Monster Hunter Rise are discovered during gameplay. Wild Hearts is relatively fast compared to Monster Hunter Rise. Your character moves faster and will attack quicker too. Combos only require two buttons, so this increased speed doesn’t become overwhelming. So if you found the hunts in Monster Hunter Rise tedious, you’ll be pleased with Wild Heart’s adjustments.

While we didn’t get to touch on it in our preview, another major difference between the two games is Wild Heart’s building. Called Karakuri, these are small wooden structures that you can build on the fly during combat. Gates, platforms, and walls can all be built in seconds, allowing you to perform special attacks and block monsters.

There’s a small but significant difference in co-op gameplay too. The max party size in Wild Hearts is three, as the developers thought that four members made fights too easy. This means you’ll be relying on your teammates more, but you’ll find it a lot easier to group up in the first place. So if you like the idea of smaller teams with higher value placed on each member, you’ll probably enjoy Wild Hearts more than Monster Hunter: Rise.
