Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play is the headline feature for Season 2, and luckily, it’s easy to unlock. Once you have access to Ranked Play, all items including weapons and attachments will be unlocked for the mode to ensure that every player is on a level playing field. Here’s what you need to do to be able to start Ranked Play matches.

The only requirement to unlock Modern Warfare 2 ranked play is reaching Level 16,
The easiest way to do this is to take advantage of double XP events, or getting three hours of double XP after completing the main story campaign for the game. If you’re not the best CoD player around, we recommend playing modes like Hardpoint or Domination, so that you can gain XP as a team. Completing various challenges like getting killstreaks will also net you a lot of XP as well. So it shouldn’t be too hard to reach Level 16.
Modern Warfare 2 ranked play overview
Ranked Play will feature three specific modes: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Control. At the start of every season, all players will begin in the Bronze Skill Division and attempt to work through eight Skill Divisions to reach Iridescent or Top 250 tier. Getting wins in Ranked Play will earn you Rank rewards and Seasonal Win rewards.
This time around, Ranked Play comes with SR Forgiveness, a new system where players on a team will not lose SR if a team member suddenly quits a match. Of course, a player who constantly disconnects may face penalties and suspensions that will impact their ranking. Players who reach a new Skill Division will also have Demotion Protection for the first three games, so that they aren’t immediately demoted.
