Sons of the Forest Can you give Kelvin a weapon

Sons of the Forest: Can You Give Kelvin a Weapon?

You can’t give Kelvin a weapon in Sons of the Forest. Kelvin can’t fight, so he can’t use a spear, bow, gun, or any other armament. As a result, he’s completely dependent on you for protection and won’t even lend a hand if you’re attacked. There’s a story reason for this, but it doesn’t keep it from being frustrating.

Can you give Kelvin a weapon in Sons of the Forest?

Kelvin won’t use a weapon in Sons of the Forest. You don’t even have the option to try. He does plenty of helpful things, like fetching rocks, sticks, and fish, but he’s a complete pacifist. He will not lift a finger to defend himself or you and will happily let cannibals beat him till he falls to his knees.

Since Kelvin won’t use a gun, club, spear, ax, or even something as simple as a stick, you’re stuck looking out for him. Fortunately, he’s relatively resilient and can tank damage well. In addition, it seems like enemies are more likely to aggro against you, so as long as you stick close to him, he shouldn’t take too much damage.

The reason why Kelvin can’t use weapons in Sons of the Forest is likely because he’s seriously injured. Whatever ruptured his eardrums and made him deaf also likely gave him a concussion. So, while he can shuffle around, pick up rocks and sticks, and do some simple building, his balance is likely affected enough to where he can’t effectively shoot a gun or land a powerful blow with a melee weapon.

Alternatively, this is early access, so as Sons of the Forest is updated, we might see Kelvin gain some new abilities. As of writing, he doesn’t have any progression, but maybe that’ll change in the future, and we can find a way to heal his injuries.
