Other players get in quickly while you have to wait around for a half an hour or more, staring at a “Temporarily at Capacity” or “One Moment Please” screen. What’s going on here?
Of course, having a high volume of players will increase wait times, which is expected for a major Destiny 2 expansion like Lightfall. Otherwise, where the closest Destiny 2 server is to your computer also matters. Some players luck out getting connected to a server that still has room left, while others are forced into a server that is already at peak capacity.
Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about long queue times apart from waiting. Getting out of the line and jumping back into the queue in the hopes that you’ll get ahead doesn’t work and will usually just set you back more.
