Halo Infinite Escalation Slayer: How To Play The New Game Mode

Halo Infinite Escalation Slayer is a new game mode introduced in Season 3. While FPS veterans will recognize the format of the new mode, Halo Infinite’s version has some unique features. Here’s how to play Escalation Slayer and become the MVP.

How does Escalation Slayer work in Halo Infinite?

Escalation Slayer is a 4v4 game mode where players will work their way up a ladder of weapon pairs by killing opposing team members. The first team to score five kills with the final weapon (the Oddball) wins.

Halo Infinite Season 3 also launched with an FFA version of Escalation Slayer, but this is not included in public playlists at the time of writing. This mode works the same as Team Escalation Slayer, except players will not be on teams and will progress individually.

Each pair of weapons in Escalation Slayer are unlocked in the same order. Each weapon loadout also comes with equipment.

Escalation Slayer weapon order

  1. Rocket Launcher, Cindershot, Repulsor.
  2. Energy Sword, Gravity Hammer, Grappleshot.
  3. Sniper Rifle, Skewer, Threat Sensor.
  4. Hydra, Ravager, Repulsor.
  5. Bulldog, Needler, Grappleshot.
  6. Battle Rifle, Commando, Threat Sensor.
  7. Shock Rifle, Stalker Rifle, Drop Wall.
  8. Heatwave, Sentinel Beam, Thruster.
  9. Bandit, Assualt Rifle, Drop Wall.
  10. Mangler, Sidekick, Threat Sensor.
  11. Oddball, Shroud Screen.

Scoring a kill with either weapon in a loadout scores your team 100 XP. Once your team reaches 500 XP, you will advance to the next loadout. Loadouts will automatically switch after 10 seconds, but players can switch earlier. However, scoring a kill during this window with the previous loadout will not earn your team XP toward the next level.

Escalation Slayer is an exciting addition to Halo Infinite, but fans will be even happier to hear that Infection mode’s release date has been leaked.
