Final Fantasy 16 Leviathan Missing

Final Fantasy 16 Leviathan: Where is the Missing Eikon?

Historically, there are supposed to be eight dominants in Valisthea Final Fantasy 16, but you may have noticed that we’re one short by the end of the story. Clive doesn’t count toward this number since he channels the dark Eikon, Ifrit. Instead, we find that it’s Leviathan who is missing from FF16.

Where is Leviathan in Final Fantasy 16?

Leviathan isn’t in Final Fantasy 16. Aside from Joshua mentioning “Leviathan the Lost,” and the Eikon appearing on the Fallen mural, there’s no sign of it in the game. There are some theories, including that the Dominant of Leviathan was associated with the Mothercrystal that was lost to the Blight before the events of the game, Drake’s Eye. However, there’s nothing solid, and Leviathan doesn’t even get a lore entry.

More Final Fantasy 16

It’s possible that Leviathan might be added to FF16 in a future DLC. However, Square Enix has made no official announcements concerning the future of the game.

Leviathan, as one of the recurring summons in the Final Fantasy series, is often portrayed as a massive sea serpent or dragon. Its association with water often translates into powerful water-based attacks, most notably “Tidal Wave” or “Tsunami.”

In Final Fantasy 4, Leviathan is a revered guardian and king of summoned monsters, residing in the Feymarch. In Final Fantasy 7, the Leviathan summon material is obtained after a series of trials, and the creature presents an impressive water-based attack, washing enemies away in a tidal wave.

Final Fantasy 10 showcases Leviathan as an aeon, a type of summoned beast, with its ability to inflict water-based damage. In Final Fantasy 15, Leviathan, one of the Six Astrals, plays a significant role in the story. It’s a giant sea serpent wreaking havoc in Altissia, leading to a memorable boss fight.

Across the series, Leviathan consistently embodies the might and fury of the sea. The lack of a strong water Eikon is apparent in Final Fantasy 16, and we can only assume it either didn’t make the cut or it’s been earmarked for future DLC.
