Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Update 1 2 0 duplication glitch patch

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Update 1.2.0 Duplication Glitch: Is it Possible to Dupe After New Patch?

The new Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 1.2.0 update recently dropped, and once again, Nintendo has patched out several duplication glitches. Our previously suggested method no longer works, but players who want to dupe aren’t totally out of luck. We’ll cover a way to duplicate items in Zelda: TOTK 1.2.0 below.

How to dupe items in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 1.2.0

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom update 1.2.0 removed our previous go-to duplication glitch. You can no longer use the stands in your house to dupe items. Additional methods using thrown weapons and meat stacking have also been patched out.

More Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Guides

Fortunately, a Zelda: TOTK 1.2.0 duplication glitch has already been discovered. However, it’s more of a pain than previous item dupe exploits.

We’ll give you a step-by-step guide to duping items in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom update 1.2.0 below. It’s a complicated process, so you’ll have to practice to pull it off consistently. The upside is that you only have to do this once to get as many rupees as you want.

To dupe items:

  1. Head to a stable and grab a horse.
  2. Make sure to be aware of Beedle’s location.
  3. Find something fairly short nearby that you can climb up.
  4. Place the horse in a position where Link can fall on top of it.
  5. Once you’ve got the horse and Link in position, pull out an item to throw and hold onto it.
  6. While holding the item, walk off the edge as if you were going to jump on the horse.
  7. As soon as Link’s feet leave the edge, immediately tap +
  8. Switch to the materials screen and hold five of the item you want to dupe.
  9. Head to the Adventure Log and watch any memory (feel free to skip it).
  10. Go back to the materials screen and have Link hold five of the item you want to dupe again.
  11. Return to the game.
  12. If this works right, Link will mount the horse, and you’ll see the items you chose to hold shoot out everywhere.
  13. Ride over to Beedle.
  14. Choose something to throw again and hold it. This time press up on the D-pad and ZL to target Beedle (this can be fiddly).
  15. Talk to Beedle.
  16. Choose “Look what I’ve got” to open the sell screen.
  17. Sell the items you chose to dupe earlier. You can sell the whole stack, not just the five you held.
  18. When you’ve sold the items, leave the sell screen, but don’t end the conversation.
  19. Choose “Look what I’ve got,” and open the sell screen again, and you’ll see that the items you just sold are still in your inventory.

As long as you don’t end the conversation with Beedle, you can continue to sell the same stack of items over and over again. While this TOTK dupe glitch is a bit trickier to pull off than some of the ones that have been patched, it generates rupees much quicker.
