Things are a bit more complicated now since the cold breath effect can now start at 5 C, and its presence doesn’t necessarily mean the Freezing Temps evidence is present. All ghosts can lower the temperature to 1 C, but freezing ghosts can lower it to -10 C. So, there are a lot more variations in temperature readings.
There are also now three tiers of thermometers:
- Tier 1: A standard mercury thermometer. It takes a while to get an accurate reading.
- Tier 2: Same model as the previous thermometer. In the new update, you need to hold the use button to scan.
- Tier 3: Works similarly to Tier 2 Thermometer but scans twice as fast.
In addition to the changes above, the thermometer is now part of your starting equipment, and you don’t need to make an additional purchase to receive it.
Which ghosts cause Freezing Temperatures in Phasmophobia?
While each ghost can lower the temperature in a room, only the following will trigger the Freezing Temperatures evidence type:

- Mimic
- Moroi
- Oni

- Revenant
- Shade
- Twins
- Yurei
Again, remember, all ghosts can lower the temperature, but only the above can push it under 1 C.
