Phasmophobia Freezing Temps Update 0-9

Phasmophobia Freezing Temps Update 0.9: What Ghosts Can Be Found in the Cold?

Freezing Temps is a form of evidence in Phasmophobia used to figure out the location of a ghost. This used to be a fairly straightforward mechanic, but some major changes in the 0.9 update made it more complex. Since this is one of the best ways of finding where a haunting is occurring, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with how cold temps work now.

How do Freezing Temps work in the Phasmophobia 0.9 update

In previous versions of Phasmophobia, you could detect Freezing Temperatures evidence by either keeping an eye out for steam rising while you’re breathing or via the $30 thermometer. When it dipped below 0 C/32 F, you’d know you were dealing with a ghost that causes Freezing Temperatures.

Things are a bit more complicated now since the cold breath effect can now start at 5 C, and its presence doesn’t necessarily mean the Freezing Temps evidence is present. All ghosts can lower the temperature to 1 C, but freezing ghosts can lower it to -10 C. So, there are a lot more variations in temperature readings.

More Phasmophobia

There are also now three tiers of thermometers:

  • Tier 1: A standard mercury thermometer. It takes a while to get an accurate reading.
  • Tier 2: Same model as the previous thermometer. In the new update, you need to hold the use button to scan.
  • Tier 3: Works similarly to Tier 2 Thermometer but scans twice as fast.

In addition to the changes above, the thermometer is now part of your starting equipment, and you don’t need to make an additional purchase to receive it.

Which ghosts cause Freezing Temperatures in Phasmophobia?

While each ghost can lower the temperature in a room, only the following will trigger the Freezing Temperatures evidence type:

  • Demon
  • Hantu
  • Jinn
  • Mimic
  • Moroi
  • Oni
  • Onryo
  • Revenant
  • Shade
  • Twins
  • Yurei

Again, remember, all ghosts can lower the temperature, but only the above can push it under 1 C.

Phasmophobia Freezing Temps FAQ

Q: How have Freezing Temperatures changed in the Phasmophobia 0.9 update?

A: In the 0.9 update of Phasmophobia, the mechanism for detecting Freezing Temperatures became more intricate. Previously, you could spot this evidence by watching for steam when breathing or by using the $30 thermometer and observing temperatures below 0 C/32 F. Now, the cold breath effect can initiate at 5 C, and just because you see it doesn’t confirm Freezing Temps evidence. Although all ghosts can reduce the temperature to 1 C, only freezing ghosts can take it to -10 C, creating diverse temperature readings.

Q: What are the differences between the three thermometer tiers in the 0.9 update?

A: The 0.9 update introduced three thermometer tiers. Tier 1 is a standard mercury thermometer that requires time for a precise reading. Tier 2 is identical in design to the older thermometer, but now you must hold the use button to scan. Tier 3 functions similarly to the Tier 2 but provides readings at double the speed. Moreover, the thermometer is now included in your initial equipment without any extra purchase.

Q: Which ghost types produce Freezing Temperatures evidence in Phasmophobia?

A: In Phasmophobia, while every ghost can reduce room temperature, only specific ones yield the Freezing Temperatures evidence by pushing it below 1 C. These ghosts are: Demon, Hantu, Jinn, Mimic, Moroi, Oni, Onryo, Revenant, Shade, Twins, and Yurei.
