Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 2: Who are the Rumored Characters?

Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 2: Who are the Leaked Characters?

The Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 2 expansion has not been officially revealed, but NetherRealm Studios rarely ever follow official reveals. Datamines and leaks have been rather insightful of who will likely join the roster in the future. Here’s who is rumored to be in MK1 Kombat Pack 2.

Who are the MK1 Kombat Pack 2 characters?

The Kombat Pack 2 characters in Mortal Kombat seemed to have been revealed through a recent datamine. Noteworthy dataminer thethiny, who was notorious for datamining fighters out of Mortal Kombat 11 (as well as DLC and the Ultimate Edition), posted character files they found in the code. These files pointed to:

  • Noob Saibot
  • Cassie Cage
  • Kung Jin
  • Cyrax
  • Ghostface (from the Scream film franchise)
  • Jade
  • Conan the Barbarian/He-Man/Kotal Kahn
  • A robot or cyborg
  • Unknown Girl

Kung Jin and Cassie Cage make a guest appearance in the story mode and dialogue referring to them directly, as well as Jade, are in the dialogue files. Fellow Kombat Kid Takeda is also in Kombat Pack 1. Noob Saibot and Cyrax also have dialogue lines that very clearly reference both of them. The lines talking about Ghostface are also a little more definitive, too.

The dialogue speaking about the unknown woman is difficult to nail down. It sounds like it could be Frost, but some other characters seem to refer to her as some sort of demon. Given how her description doesn’t point to one specific character, it might even be a completely new fighter, which Mortal Kombat 1 doesn’t currently have.

Dataminer thethiny noted explained that they couldn’t tell if one of the characters were Conan the Barbarian, He-Man, or Kotal Kahn as the lines vaguely speak of some muscly character without delving into specifics. It’s possible it could be another character, too, as the lines are so unspecific.

More Mortal Kombat 1

The dialogue around the cyborg character is not as definitive, either. It seems like it could be some Terminator, and possibly the T-1000, as Peacemaker notes that he looks like his dad. Robert Patrick played his Peacemaker’s father in the HBO Max series as well as the T-1000 in Terminator 2. Johnny Cage also called him an “asshole evil robot.”

It is very possible that Kombat Pack 2 doesn’t have every single character here, as it would mean have 50% more character than the first Kombat Pack. If these characters are all coming to the game, they might be spread across multiple DLC packs.

And since Kombat Pack 1 is coming with five Kameos, Kombat Pack 2 will undoubtedly have some more, too, which were also found in the files. These datamined Kameos are:

  • Li Mei
  • Liu Kang
  • Quan Chi
  • Shinnok
  • Kintaro

Li Mei and Liu Kang are already main fighters, and Quan Chi will join that group when Kombat Pack 1 finishes up. He’s also an incomplete Kameo in the story mode. Shinnok and Kintaro are also niche fighters, as are most of the other Kameos.

When is the MK1 Kombat Pack 2 release date window?

It is unclear when Kombat Pack 2 will come out for Mortal Kombat 1. NetherRealm has not clearly defined when Kombat Pack 1 is wrapping up, only explaining that Homelander would be out in spring 2024. It’s likely Kombat Pack 2 starts trickling out a few months after that, assuming that Homelander is the last release of that first season. Kombat Pack 2 and the Mortal Kombat 11 fighters were released all at once for MK11, though.

There also seems to be story-based DLC in the works in the vein of Mortal Kombat 11’s Aftermath expansion. More files were found in the according to thethiny that referenced characters seen in the campaign’s chaotic final chapter. Given how NetherRealm focused Kombat Pack 2 in MK11 around Aftermath, it’s possible that the team follows that lead here.
