Baldurs Gate 3 Custom Mode Options List

There are a plethora of options you can choose from in Custom Mode in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can make combat super tough but make items cheap, or tone down the fighting and make dialogue rolls a huge pain.

Here’s what you can customize in Custom Mode and what each option does:

  • Single Save: You only get one save slot (no save scumming).
  • Enemy Aggression: Adjusts how dangerous enemies are in combat.
    • Explorer: Enemies will not be as ruthless in combat (easy).
    • Balanced: Enemies will provide a balanced challenge (normal).
    • Tactician: Enemies will attack ruthlessly and efficiently (hard).
  • Character Power: Adjusts how powerful players, allies, and enemies are by modifying their bonuses to rolls and how hard they are to kill.
    • Explorer: Friendly characters are stronger and harder to kill in combat (easy).
    • Balanced: Keeps enemies and allies at the same level of strength (normal).
    • Tactician: Hostile characters are stronger and harder to kill (hard).
  • Enemy Loadouts: Adjust items and spells enemies have access to in combat.
    • Explorer: Enemies only have access to basic spells and items (easy).
    • Balanced: Enemies use a variety of spells and items in combat (normal).
    • Tactician: Enemies employ advanced spells and items in combat (hard).
  • Proficiency Bonus: Increases or decreases the proficiency bonus of all characters, which impacts the effect of random rolls.
  • Enemy Critical Hits: Enables or disables the enemy’s ability to perform Critical Hits.
  • No Death Saving Throws: If enabled, characters will automatically succeed at a death saving throw when hitting 0 HP and will be stabilized until Helped by another character.
  • Disable Free First Strikes: If enabled, harming a target before combat begins will still cost one attack or action during your first turn.
  • Camp Cost Multiplier: Increases or decreases how much camp supplies each Long Rest costs.
  • Short Rest Full Heal: If enabled, characters are fully healed during a Short Rest.
  • Trader Price Modifier: All goods traders sell have their price multiplied by this modifier. Likewise, all money you get from selling goods is divided by this number.
  • Multiclassing: Unchecking this box means characters cannot choose an additional class.
  • Always Prompt Reactions: If checked, all reactions that can pause the game will do so.
  • Hide NPC Health: When checked, you can only see the HP totals of characters you control.
  • Hide Failed Perception Rolls: If this is turned on, you’ll only see percetption rolls that are successful.
  • Hide Passive Rolls in Dialogues: Hides the text that tells you whether you passed or failed a passive roll during dialogue.
  • Preview Dialogue Check Difficulty Before Rolling: If this option is turned on, you can see how hard a dialogue-related Ability or Skill check will be.
  • Hide Difficulty Class During Rolls: Hides the Difficulty Class while making Ability or Skill Checks during dialogues, disarming traps, or lockpicking.

You should note that once these options are locked in, and the game has begun, you can’t change them again.

These extensive customization options in Baldur’s Gate 3’s Custom Mode offer a unique opportunity to tailor the game to your play style. Whether you’re looking for a more challenging combat experience or a more forgiving adventure, these settings cater to a wide range of preferences. The flexibility and depth of these options underscore the game’s commitment to providing a personalized and engaging experience for each player.
