Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are Jesse Biggs Wedge Alive

FF7 Rebirth: Are Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge Alive or Dead?

Many are wondering if Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge are dead or alive in FF7 Rebirth. After the continuity got shaken up in FF7 Remake, their fates weren’t as straightforward as they were in the original. Well, there’s good news and bad news here for fans of Avalanche’s undersung heroes.

What happens to Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge in the original Final Fantasy 7?

Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge’s deaths in the original Final Fantasy 7 were straightforward. Wedge fell from the Sector 7 pillar while attempting to defend it from Shinra, and Jessie and Biggs were killed fighting Shinra on the steps leading to the top of the pillar. We can assume the pillar’s destruction killed them if they weren’t already dead, and we don’t see them again during the game.

Is Biggs alive in FF7 Rebirth?

Biggs is alive in at least one timeline in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. In the timeline in which Zack survives, Biggs didn’t die in the collapse of the Sector 7 plate. However, it seems like he’s the only member of the Midgar cell of Avalanche that’s currently active.

What’s less clear is if Biggs is dead or alive in the prime timeline in Rebirth. There are several scenes where Biggs appears alongside Jessie and Wedge as specters in the parties’ memories. However, at the conclusion of Remake, we see him convalescing in a bed in the Sector 5 orphanage, but it’s not clear if this is the alternate Biggs or not. Since we don’t return to Midgar in FF7 Rebirth, there’s yet to be a definitive answer for this question.

Is Jessie alive in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Signs are pointing toward Jessie being dead in both timelines in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. We got a little hope she survived when we saw her gloves and bandana on the table next to Biggs at the end of FF7 Remake, but there’s no evidence that she’s alive.

However, Jessie was stuck on the same pillar as Biggs, and he managed to live. So, maybe she’s out there somewhere.

Is Wedge alive in FF7 Rebirth?

Wedge is the one of the three that we know is definitely dead. The party reflects on Wedge several times during the Cosmo Canyon Protorelic side quest, and his fate is made very clear. He plummeted over 60 stories from the Shinra Building to his death. This isn’t explicitly mentioned in the alternate timeline, but we can assume that something similar occurred there.
