Dragon's Dogma 2 NPC Death Penalty Not Reviving NPCs Wakestone

Dragon’s Dogma 2 NPC Death: Is There A Penalty for Not Reviving NPCs?

Dragon’s Dogma 2 NPC death can happen if you’re not careful. Sometimes, swinging your weapon in a town or casting spells in a city will accidentally hit a bystander. Or perhaps you just want to go on a murder spree. Either way, you may want to know how to revive NPCs or if there’s any sort of penalty for not bringing characters back to life. Here’s what happens if you don’t bring back NPCs from the dead in Dragon’s Dogma 2 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Is there a penalty for Dragon’s Dogma 2 NPC death?

The main penalty for NPC death in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is that you won’t be able to complete any quests that require that character to appear, thereby making it impossible to finish them. And of course if various guards and NPCs around you witness a murder, they will either run away or attempt to capture you.

That said, most NPCs are not mission-critical. There, you likely won’t face any major consequences for not reviving them with a Wakestone. Like in the original Dragon’s Dogma, Wakestones are quite rare. They are better put to use as a means of reviving yourself if you happen to fall. So using one on an NPC is rather costly.

If you don’t revive a fallen NPC on the spot or happen to miss their body, you can wait a day or two before their corpse appears in the crypt. There’s one crypt in the Noble’s Quarter of Vermund and another crypt in the capital of Battahl. Bodies typically appear in the crypt that’s closest to them. You can also speak with an undertaker at these burial chambers to find a specific body. It will usually cost you 5000 gold to do so.

By the way, when we’re talking about NPCs, we’re not talking about pawns. So if you’re mean or want to challenge yourself against a group of random pawns walking on the road, you won’t be penalized too much. Wandering pawns are typically around your level, though, so they will put up a considerable fight.
