The Order: 1886 Dev Addresses Game’s Length

The Order: 1886, the narrative-heavy PlayStation 4 exclusive from developer Ready at Dawn, launches later this week. Naturally, reports of the game's length are popping up early, claiming it can be completed in under six hours.

CEO and creative director of Ready at Dawn, Ru Weerasuriya, recently spoke with Eurogamer to address concerns over the game's relatively short length. "I know there are numbers out there," he explained. "I know why the question comes up. I know numbers have been put out there that are actually not right. It's impossible to finish the game in that time, so we know the numbers are wrong."

Weerasuriya went on to discuss game length in general noting that while it is "important," each experience is a different case. "Every game has to take its own time to tell its story. Some games can be short. Some games can be long. I still remember the first time I picked up Modern Warfare, I finished the campaign in about three-and-a-half or four hours. And it was fun because they made that campaign work for that because they had something else."

The Order: 1886 launches on February 20, exclusively for PlayStation 4. Will you be disappointed if you manage to finish it in under six hours? Let us know how important the length of a game is to you in the comments below.
