Axiom Verge Gets PS4 Release Date

Axiom Verge, the upcoming indie game inspired by Super Metroid, Contra, and Master Blaster, now has a release date on PlayStation 4. The game will come out on March 31st for $19.99 according to a new post on the PlayStation Blog.

Tom Happ, Axiom Verge's sole designer, says the game is entirely finished on PS4. He's still working on the Vita version and decided to release it on PS4 early instead of waiting for a simultaneous launch. Nevertheless, the game touts cross-buy support.

The blog post also details some of the game's abilities and power-ups, such as a gun that detonates into pieces in mid-air and a drill that makes quick work of bothersome walls. The most intriguing one is the address disruptor, which attempts to replicate the excitement of discovering glitches in old games.

Tom Happ has been working on Axiom Verge for the past five years and the game looks mighty impressive for a solo project. Hopefully the full release turns out great for both Happ and Metroidvania fans.
