Pirates Can Upgrade to Windows 10 for Free

In an interesting method of dealing with pirates who have copies of Windows 7, 8.1, or Phone 8.1, Microsoft will be allowing them to upgrade to Windows 10 for free when it releases in the summer this year. Wait, is this a trap?

"Anyone with a qualified device can upgrade to Windows 10, including those with pirated copies of Windows," said a Microsoft spokesperson to Eurogamer. "We believe customers over time will realise the value of properly licensing Windows and we will make it easy for them to move to legitimate copies."

Customers can claim this free upgrade offer within the first year that Windows 10 is available on the market. It won't be a one-year trial or anything like that, but a full legitimate copy. Whatever the case, this will promote widespread adoption of Windows 10 internationally.

Similar to remote play on the PS4 using the Vita controller, Windows 10 will allow players to remote play Xbox One games on Windows 10 devices using an Xbox One controller.
