SOMA Enters Beta Stage

SOMA is the next project from Frictional Games, the developer behind the terrifying 2010 release Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Earlier today the studio announced the game has officially entered the beta stage.

Frictional sent the game to about 40 people to receive feedback, so it's not a public beta. The game is finished as far as content is concerned though, which means a release may not be too far away.

SOMA sticks to the survival horror genre just like Amnesia and takes place in an underwater research facility. It looks to be even scarier than the studio's previous effort, which means the game should probably come with a heart attack warning.

Frictional plans to release SOMA on PC and PlayStation 4 some time this year.
