Steam Breaks Concurrent User Record Again

Steam has been in the news a lot recently with the introduction of paid mod support and its quick removal, but now there's a more positive story coming from Valve regarding its digital platform. Steam has broken the concurrent user record once again.

The stats page on Steam details the last 48 hours, and on May 10 there were 9.5 million concurrent users on the platform. That breaks the previous record of 9.06 million from just a few months back, on March 15.

The page also lists the most popular games on Steam based on player count, and the following titles made up the top 10:

  • Dota 2
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Team Fortress 2
  • Football Manager 2015
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • Sid Meier's Civilization V
  • Garry's Mod

Steam continues to grow in popularity with each year, but now we're starting to see some competition from the likes of GOG. Other services like Galaxy may not topple Steam, but competition often benefits the consumer.
