FFXIV: Heavensward’s Most Popular Jobs and Rarest Items Detailed in Official 2015 Census

When choosing which job to main in an MMORPG, for many it's important to know what's hot and what's not. Nothing is worse than devoting dozens of hours to leveling something that is too popular to get into groups with. Square Enix is a rare breed when it comes to this information, formally releasing Final Fantasy XIV statistics on an annual basis.

Square Enix has released its official 2015 Census for FFXIV. This is the first census to drop after the arrival of Heavensward, meaning that Astrologian, Dark Knight, and Machinist popularity have been shared for the first time ever.

As seen in the presentation images below, White Mage and Black Mage tie for the most overplayed jobs in the game, closely followed by Paladin, Dragoon, and Bard. Of the three new Heavensward jobs, Astrologian is the least popular. It is said to be receiving significant adjustments and buffs in both the 3.07 and 3.1 updates.

Other interesting details include that the Twin Adder are the most popular Grand Company choice for players. Also, the most popular race is Hyur, closely followed by Miqo'te.Oh, and if you like rare items, the Iron Dwarf and War Panther are more uncommon than anything else in their respective categories.

Square Enix has also shared that nearly 100 billion hours have been played within FFXIV during the past two years. This has been achieved across over five million accounts, around one million of which are currently active making it the second most popular subscription-based MMORPG on the market.
