This Hidden MGSV: The Phantom Pain Cutscene Is Mind-Blowing

WARNING: POTENTIAL STORY SPOILERS ARE BELOW

Have you gotten far enough into Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to unlock Mother Base and complete Side Op 51? If so, head to the Medical Strut immediately. A mind-blowing cutscene awaits you.

Since the release of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear fans have been led to believe Paz is dead and gone. Not only dead, but blown to smithereens. She had two bombs planted inside her in an attempt to take down vital targets including Big Boss, one of which was surgically removed, and another that exploded as she descended from a helicopter toward the chilling ocean waters below. The explosion was so large that it sent the helicopter spinning out of control despite being dozens of feet away.

An optional cutscene in The Phantom Pain puts the ending of Ground Zeroes in question. The truth is that Paz is alive and well, and now resides within the comfort of Mother Base.

That begs the question: was what happened in Ground Zeroes real?

Many are already speculating that certain parts of Ground Zeroes were a figment of Big Boss' damaged imagination. The events of Ground Zeroes, and those that he experiences at the beginning of The Phantom Pain, appear to be disturbed memories and experiences of the traumatized brain of Big Boss.
