PS Plus Not Required to Play No Man’s Sky on PS4

No Man's Sky is right around the corner, and is expected to be a huge Summer release. However, some console gamers have expressed concern that the PS4's PlayStation Plus requirement for online play could affect the game given its multiplayer capabilities.

Hello Games has addressed these concerns in a statement to GameInformer, which said:

PS Plus won’t be a requirement to play online, however you will need to connected to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas

It is said that No Man's Sky will provide multiplayer lobbies in the occasion where two or more players happen to converge at the same location. These interactions are said to be extremely rare given the billions of stars and planets that populate the game world, and the lack of any mechanics that could be used for reasonably locating friends and visiting them.

Because of this, Hello Games has further stated that online play will not be mandatory in No Man's Sky. All players will be able to play and enjoy the game in its entirety with or without an internet connection.

This mysterious format for the game has given it a mysterious persona that has ourselves and many other intrigued. Stay tuned for its release on August 9th.
