Nintendo is being very strategic about how it handles pre-release marketing for its upcoming Switch console. Its video debut introduced the basics, but left many big questions unanswered.
Reggie Fils-Aime was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night for what many thought would be an appearance dedicated to Nintendo's Super Mario Run mobile game. Although he would spend more than four minutes showing off the title, he would eventually surprise the audience by unveiling the Nintendo Switch, which was hidden intently under a Mario question block.
For the next few minutes Jimmy Fallon would not only become overwhelmed with joy—he's a huge fan of Nintendo—, but he would get hands-on time with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Better yet, the Switch's handheld capabilities were shown off in a way that appeared sexy and composed.
