Guerilla Games Details Horizon Zero Dawn’s Patch For PS4 Pro Support

You've likely been hearing a lot about Horizon Zero Dawn of late, and with good reason. The game is largely delivering on its bold and sprawling promising, securing positive reviews from most critics and positioning itself for a successful launch. Of course, any smooth release requires day one patches to come off without a hitch, and as such Guerilla Games has detailed specifically what Zero Dawn's small but important day one patch will be about.

As noted by PlayStation Universe, the 250MB patch contains improvements for better performance on PS4 Pro. This includes "higher visual fidelity" across TV sets and resolutions, be it 4k or standard 1080p. Guerilla's official remarks are below.

Horizon Zero Dawn will receive a small day zero patch that will build upon PlayStation 4 Pro support, adding a Performance mode which will favor smoother framerates while delivering higher visual fidelity in the 1080p mode. This mode is available for both 4K and 1080p displays.

If nothing else, the expectation of available high-fidelity improvements in games when played on PS4 Pro is good in that launch day patching can focus on added graphical finesse instead of last-minute cramming of actual gameplay or important features. Regardless, Horizon Zero Dawn appears poised to be a substantial success for Sony, and with a competitor like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the way, the timing could not have been more perfect.
