Japan Tsunami Forces Square Enix To Suspend Servers

With Japan still in the midst of an 8.9 magnitude earthquake and an nuclear emergency due to damage in the cooling systems of several nuclear plants, Japanese authorities have recommended its citizens to save electricity. In response, Square-Enix is reducing its energy consumption by suspending services to Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XI, and PlayOnline for at least a week starting today, Sunday, at 3:00pm.

Affected players will not be billed for any PlayOnline service during this temporary suspension of service in April's billing cycle. The official websites, Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone, forums, and the Square Enix Support Center will provide customers with updates on the current situation.
