Popcap: Cheaters in Social Games Are Likely Cheaters in Real-Life

Popcop contacted a survey of more than 1,200 adult consumers and found that 48% of cheaters in social video games admit to cheating in real-life, versus 14% of social game non-cheaters who admit to cheating in real-life.

Out of 118 million people who play social games regularly in the U.S. and U.K., 11% of people in the U.K. cheat and 7% of U.S. players cheat. (We win! I think…) Men are also willing to cheat more than women (54% to 46%). 72% of cheaters are also younger than 40. So if you're a British brat, we hate you.

Other date includes:

  • 53% of people who cheat in social games report cheating on tests at school
  • 51% of people who cheat at social games report parking in handicap spaces despite not being eligible (compared to only 12% of those who don’t cheat in social games)
  • 49% of people who cheat at social games report cheating on a committed relationship
  • 43% of people who cheat at social games report stealing magazines from a waiting room
