Sony Aims For The Bleachers With MLB Vita/PS3 Combo

MLB: The Show is the highest-rated baseball sim ever created. Year after year, Sony puts out a nearly flawless game, and with each iteration, the improvements and added features are far more than just a roster upgrade, always enough to warrant another purchase. But this year's installment may be the best yet – not only because it packs more content and features than ever before, but because of the cross-save, cross-platform features it shares between both the Vita and the PS3.

The idea is, you can take your PS3 save and season, toss it on the Vita, and pick up right where you left off, but on the go. Both versions will also share your statistics, keeping you connected to The Show experience anywhere you happen to be.

The only one thing that would hold this amazing idea back? The cost. The PS3 version of the game is $59.99, and the Vita version is $39.99. Not many people are willing to fork over $100 to play a baseball game. Granted you don't need both versions to get your experience, but hey, if you have both systems, you sure as shit would want to take advantage of such a cool feature.

Well, Sony is taking some of the sting away from your wallet, and is striking $20 off the total price when you purchase both copies, dropping the total to just $79.99. That's expensive for any game, still. But having the ability to literally play your season anywhere and everywhere, on your PS3 and your Vita, is worth the added cost. Especially if you're a fan of the near perfect quality MLB: The Show brings each release.

Tell GR: Even if baseball isn't your thing, do you like the idea of getting a discount on both versions? Is this intiative a good move for Sony, and more importantly, the success of the Vita? And do you hope this cross-save feature is added to other games?
