Judge Rules Silicon Knights Eligible For $1 In Damages From Epic

The longstanding battle between Too Human developer Silicon Knights and Epic Games has finally reached court, and after all that back-and-forth, Dennis Dyack and his development team will be rewarded with a whopping $1 in damages if they manage to win the case.

According to a report from Polygon, the judge assigned to the case issued the ruling earlier this month preceding the trial's May 14th date. In the event that Silicon Knights wins, they will be able to either propose another form of recourse or appeal how the damages were totaled. The judge decided upon the $1 sum after growing tired of waiting for Silicon Knights to provide the court with a detailed breakdown of the alleged damages they were seeking from Epic.

The spat between the two companies started back in 2007 when Silicon Knights accused Epic of funding Gears of War with their Unreal Engine licensing dollars rather than investing it in the engine itself. Silicon Knights claims that because of this, they had to end up developing their own engine, which ended up costing the team quite a bit of cash.

What they failed to mention however, is that Too Human – steep production costs aside – was a complete and utter disappointment of a game. Remember kids, you can't always blame your problems on someone else.
