343i Discusses Halo 4 Campaign And Spartan Ops Length

The achievement list for Halo 4 was released yesterday, and it appears that several fans were a bit concerned over the number of missions in the campaign. With just eight levels (a record low for the series) it's easy to see how some may assume that the single-player may be a bit shorter than prior entries.

343i head Frank O'Connor has addressed these concerns on NeoGAF, saying that the "number of missions has no bearing on the length of the campaign. It's a Halo-sized campaign. PLUS [Spartan Ops] etc."

Halo 4 designer David Ellis went on to add that the game's Spartan Ops DLC will add plenty of value to the experience as well. "[Spartan Ops] season alone is longer than [Halo 3: ODST]. Spartan Ops and Campaign are completely separate teams. As Frank mentioned earlier, the main campaign is substantial and will compare favorably with previous entries in the series," Ellis explained.

Spartan Ops – which is completely free, mind you – will serve as an extension of the game's campaign, allowing you to tackle the additional missions solo or with up to three of your friends. The first season of this content will include a total of five missions over the course of ten weeks following the game's launch.

So those of you worried about the Halo 4 experience ending too quickly can stop your complaining. After all, this franchise is known to deliver one of the most compelling competitive online experiences in gaming. Believe me, this one will keep you busy right up until 343i is ready to talk about Halo 5.
