A Fortnite Battle Royale 50 vs 50 mode has been announced at The Game Awards, with the chaotic new addition to the hugely popular multiplayer game being made available for a limited time only.
The chaotic new mode will pit two teams of 50 players against one another in a last-team standing battle, all set in Fortnite Battle Royale‘s familiar arena.
Epic Games also shared some stats regarding the game’s success, with Fortnite boasting more than 30 million players since the game’s July launch. Additionally, the game hit a new milestone this past weekend, peaking at 1.3 million concurrent players.
Fortnite Battle Royale has become a much-needed twist on the Battle Royale formula established by the likes of PUBG, with it presenting a more casual approach to the genre that has seen it become a big hit on Twitch. PUBG will release a new map in December, with it being the first major new addition to the game aside from weapon and vehicle updates since its early access launch. Fortnite Battle Royale already firing out a major new mode, with more seemingly in the pipeline, is a hopeful sign that Epic will pump out new content for the game with much greater frequency than its rival.
The Fortnite Battle Royale 50 vs 50 game mode will be available until Sunday, December 17th on PS4, Xbox One and PC, though Epic stated that they are working on more unique modes to introduce to the game.
