Kylo Ren Battlefront 2 Matt the Radar Technician Mod

Battlefront 2 Mod Brings Matt the Radar Technician from Kylo Ren SNL Skit to the Game

When Saturday Night Live eases up on the hamfisted political commentary, they actually come up with some pretty funny skits. One that took the internet by storm was the Star Wars spoof of Undercover Boss in which Kylo Ren disguised himself as Matt the Radar Technician to go aboard Starkiller Base and see what his employees really thought of him. The SNL clip is still hilarious, and a new PC mod allows you to go undercover as Matt the Radar Technician in Battlefront 2.

How to Get the Matt the Radar Technician Battlefront 2 Mod

Modder GameTSF has uploaded this Star Wars Battlefront 2 mod at Nexus Mods. There are actually two versions of this mod you can install. One affects single-player, and one allows you to use the skin in multiplayer.

To install the mod, head over to the Matt the Radar Technician page at Nexus Mods. You’ll then need to click on “Download (Manual)” at the top. You’ll then be taken to two files. The first file is the single-player version of the mod, while the one marked “MP” works in multiplayer.

To actually install the mods you’ll need to download Frosty, a mod manager for games made in the Frostbite engine. You can find it on Github here. Scroll down and click the link to download, then choose the FrostyModManager. Once the .rar downloads, decompress it and click on the .exe file. When you first open Frosty Mod Manager, it’ll ask you to point it to an executable. Point it to your Battlefront 2 launcher, and you’ll be taken to the program’s main interface.

If you unrar the mods you downloaded from Nexus Mods, you’ll notice two files in each archive. The .fbmod and .archive files from these mods have to be kept in the same folder together at all times. Once you’ve found a suitable place to store your mods, you can install them via Frosty Mod Manager, and you’re good to go.

How to Use the Matt the Radar Technician Mod in Battlefront 2

The single-player version of the Matt the Radar Technician mod can be used by just selecting Kylo Ren in Arcade mode. Both of his skins have been replaced with Matt, so just pick one and go with it. The mod also replaces Kylo Ren’s Star Card textures and gives him the Force Choke and Force Push ability, so he plays more consistent with what we see in the SNL skit.

The multiplayer mod replaces the First Order Officer skin with the Matt the Radar Technician skin. Any map you play with the First Order will allow you to play as Matt by deploying as an officer.

Will I Get Banned for Using Mods in Battlefront 2?

It’s hard to say whether or not EA will crack down on people using mods in Battlefront 2, or if automated cheat detection will flag you if you use a mod. The skin mods only work on client-side, so you’re the only person that will see Matt the Radar Technician if you install this mod. It’s likely that because this mod doesn’t actually require you to send any extra data to the Battlefront 2 servers that you’re safe.

However, use the mod at your own risk. This obviously isn’t a sanctioned mod, and there’s no indication that EA ever intended for BF2 to be modded. So, besides the risk of being banned, it is possible you may corrupt your installation of Battlefront 2.
