Activision Support FAQ Says Black Op Pass Content Cannot Be Purchased Separately at Launch

There seems to be some confusion surrounding Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and it’s pass content. And frankly? We’re a little confused ourselves on what’s going on with the Black Op pass content, especially as the last time we checked the Activision support FAQ posted some details that they’ve since changed. All in all? It feels like we’re experiencing a lot of whiplash right now.

Previously the Black Ops 4 FAQ did say that content which is part of the Black Ops pass cannot be purchased separately. It must be purchased as a ‘bundle’. What is included in the Black Ops 4 bundle is:

  • Classified – a new Zombies map, available at launch.
  • 12 Multiplayer Maps to be released during the post-launch content season.
  • 4 new Zombies Maps to be released during the post-launch content season.
  • 4 Exclusive Blackout characters.

That puts a strain on players to buy higher editions of the game in order to get the content they want, especially if all they want is the standard edition along with the Black Ops pass. Considering that their rival Battlefield will have free maps, no premium pass or loot boxes, this move by Activision is not making themselves look well at all.

Yet when this confusion came to light, the Activision Support FAQ quickly changed its tune. While it still remains true that the player is unable to buy the Black Op pass at launch if you’re purchasing the standard edition, it will become available as a standalone “at a later date.”

For clarity, the FAQ reads as follows:

Q: Can I buy Black Ops Pass as a standalone product?

A: Black Ops Pass will be available as a standalone offering at a later date.

While this is progress, it wouldn’t surprise us if fans were still feeling pretty mad at Activision’s actions right now.
