Fallout 4 Is Not Planned for the Switch

Fallout 4 for Switch has been a hot topic ever since the release of Bethesda’s other massive RPG hit, Skyrim on Nintendo’s portable console. After all, Bethesda’s games certainly are no stranger to the console and they do remarkably well with fans of the studio, especially games like DOOM and hopefully Wolfenstein II. That said, just because players have some Bethesda games on the Nintendo Switch to sate them for now, it won’t last them forever.

We suspect that’s why the demand for the apocalyptic RPG is so high. That and who doesn’t want to fight Deathclaws on the go? Unfortunately, it seems as though Bethesda, while aware of their players wishes to have the game come to the Nintendo Switch, aren’t exactly thinking about that idea at the moment.

Speaking to Gamereactor at Gamelab, Todd Howard answered a few questions. One of these questions was whether we should expect to see any mainline Fallout games to come to the Nintendo Switch, such as Fallout 4. Howard answered, “Well there’s definitely interest. It’s not something that we are exploring right now.”

That may be more than enough for some fans to feel put off, but there is good news too. Howard also said, “we think Switch is a great platform – it was the first time we really worked closely with Nintendo on Skyrim – and really, really great experience and we’ll certainly be doing more things there in the future, but right now it’s not a mainline Fallout 4.”

So we may not be seeing Fallout 4 on the Switch, at least not for a long time, but it does seem as though Bethesda will be investing more on the console in the future. Whether that will be another ported game or a brand new IP remains to be seen. What we do know, however, is that we’re excited to see what the studio does next.
