Silent Hill 2 Secret Features Found 17 Years Later

Despite Silent Hill 2 being 17 years old, the game still has secrets being found. Twitter user @punk780 found the secrets hidden deep into the horror game classic.

Once the player has finished the game with the Dog Ending, they can unlock these two features. The first allows the player to unlock a minimap. The Cutting Room Floor notes to unlock the map, the player must:

“make sure your controller type is set to 2 if you are playing on the international versions of the game. Finally, press the following buttons while you have control over your character: Start + L2 + Square + L3. You may need to first enter the inventory menu screen, exit, and while exiting hold Start button and then input the rest of the button sequence.”

As for the ability to save anywhere:

“This hidden feature has a more complex set of button combinations that need to be input to bring up the save menu anywhere. Have control over your character, and then press the following buttons: D-Pad Left + Left Analog Stick Left + Right Analog Stick Left + L2 + L1 + L3.”

The codes have also been tested on newer versions of Silent Hill 2. However, the codes do not work on these updated versions of the game. It’s really cool to see that despite years after the game’s release, secrets are still being found!

But what do you think? Does this make you want to jump back into Silent Hill 2 with these features? Or do you prefer a version of the game you played before these features were available? Sound off in the comments below!
