Persona 5 is known for its wonderful modern look, showcasing an artistic vibe not many other games have. It’s also known for being in 3D. One pixel artist, however, couldn’t help but conceptualize what the game would look like if it were released on the Game Boy Advance.
Sea Handler has released a number of mock up images showing familiar locations in Persona 5 scaled down to images more resembling Mother 3 than a modern day video game release.
One image shows the protagonist, whose code name is Joker, working at the Cafe Leblanc bar where many scenes from the game take place. Another showcases what the battle sequences of the game would look like in 2D, also borrowing from the Mother series.
Persona 5 was released in the west in 2017 to high acclaim, earning a 5 out of 5 rating here at GameRevolution. It also averages a 93 rating on Metacritic.
So far, the game has been released only for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. However, recent rumors seem to indicate that Persona 5 could soon be hitting a Nintendo platform. Not the Game Boy Advance of course, but the next best thing: the Nintendo Switch.
Joker, for example, will be a playable character in upcoming DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It isn’t known when the DLC will be released, but he will have his own stage and five different music tracks upon release.
Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai, has also continued to fuel rumors, recently talking to Atlus about his love for the series. There was a recent video uploaded that showed him hugging mascot character Morgana.
This coincides with Atlus officially announcing Persona 5 R. What it is exactly isn’t known yet, but this could be a remaster similar to Persona 4 Golden, which was released for the PlayStation Vita back in 2012. More information about Persona 5 R is set to come out in March.
