The 70mai Dash Cam 4K T800 offers a triple camera setup, allowing users to capture the front of the vehicle, the rear of the vehicle, and the interior. Though it has “Dash Cam” in its name, the 4K T800 goes beyond that with close to full vehicle monitoring. After testing it during the day and night on some lengthy journeys, here’s my review.
4K, front and back
The main attraction of the 4K T800 is its ability to simultaneously capture the front and rear views in 4K while also recording the interior in 1080p. Those 4K-resolution images improve the chances of capturing registration plates and finer detail..
What’s more, those 4K cameras use Sony’s STARVIS 2 sensors, a high-quality option that boasts improved clarity in low-light conditions.
Low-light focus

Speaking of improving clarity, 70mai includes various features like MaiColor Vivid+, Lumi Vision, and Night Owl to help the image remain clear in challenging conditions. I’m all for a little software assistance, especially on dark roads in the UK where street lighting can be nonexistent at times.
The hardware and software come together to provide truly excellent video quality. The 4K front and rear cameras make a big difference and it’s excellent to see the rear camera given just as much consideration, as I think it’s just as important.
See inside
As for the interior camera, I think it would be most useful for those transporting people in their car, so Uber drivers, for example. Additionally, if users hardwire the camera into their vehicle and get the 4G connection set up, it becomes possible to monitor the car while away from it.
Other big highlights include the built-in GPS, Wi-Fi 6, and support for up to 512GB storage.
Bigger than you might expect

As for downsides, the main issue for me is the size. While I understand that the 70mai 4K T800 is capable of doing a lot more than smaller and simpler dash cams, and requires that extra size because of it, this dash cam still demands attention. It’s not huge or anything, but it’s bigger than I was expecting, and more than a couple of passengers mentioned it when entering my car.

Final Verdict
At $399.99, the 70mai Dash Cam 4K T800 sits firmly in the premium category, but it delivers a strong overall experience with its quality and features. It offers more capability than a typical dash cam, making it a solid choice for those who want something more advanced, though its larger size and higher price mean it won’t suit everyone, especially if you’re after something simpler and more discreet.
