Mortal Kombat 11 Kano revealed in Brazilian live stream

A new fighter has been revealed for Mortal Kombat 11. Kano will return to the fighting game with a revised look, and at least one new skin. Mortal Kombat 11 Kano was revealed during a Brazilian live stream of the game.

Kano joins the growing roster of Mortal Kombat 11 characters and is the first to be revealed after the game’s gameplay reveal event. The character’s new default look has already caught some flack from fans on Resetera and Reddit. The other skin revealed is based on the cangaçeiros of northeastern Brazil, and will be a Brazil-only skin. Region-locked skins are nothing new to Mortal Kombat, having featured several in Mortal Kombat X.

Mortal Kombat 11 developer NetherRealm Studios had previously planned a “Kombat Kast” of the game for January 30. The Chicago-based developer canceled the live stream due to the sub-zero weather in the Midwestern United States this week. NetherRealm had previously planned to reveal at least one character during the live stream.

Mortal Kombat 11 Kano was instead revealed during the Brazilian MK11 reveal event. No gameplay of the character has been shown. Kano is one of the original Mortal Kombat fighters, having made his debut in 1992. He is a member of the Black Dragon crime syndicate and nemesis of Sonya and Jax. Although no gameplay was shown, he will probably work similar to his MKX iteration.

Mortal Kombat 11 was revealed at The Game Awards 2018 in December 2018. The latest in the long-running fighting game franchise mixes up gameplay in a number of ways, including new Fatal Blows. Kano joins other confirmed fighters Baraka, Sonya, Skarlet, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Scorpion, Liu Kang, Geras and Shao Kahn (pre-order bonus). Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled to release on April 23 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Kano will be right there in the starting roster, which still has some time to fill out when the game releases.
