A Fallout Wasteland Warfare tactical RPG has been announced by Modiphius Entertainment. The tabletop role-playing game based on Bethesda’s popular franchise is a standalone expansion for a miniatures game of the same name. The announcement revealed the Fallout Wasteland Warfare release date would be during summer 2019.

According to the Fallout Wasteland Warfare tactical RPG website, the role-playing expansion will build upon the narrative experience of the tabletop miniatures game. The game will include “new rules for character creation, creating adventures in the wasteland, and more.” The game is the first official Fallout roleplaying game. It will allow players to visit abandoned vaults, build settlements, and take on all the famous foes from the Fallout video game series, from Super Mutants to the Brotherhood of Steel.
As part of the announcement of the Fallout Wasteland Warfare tactical RPG, Modiphius Entertainment also stated it is developing another title using Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic IP. The second game will be a more traditional tabletop RPG “using the company’s 2d20 system” and will launch in 2020. Modiphius has created tabletop games for other popular franchise such as Mutant Chronicles, Conan, and Star Wars.
The website details what players will receive when ordering the pack. Along with the expansion itself, players can download free cards to be able to play the RPG without the need for the miniatures tactical RPG. The complete rules for the game are included as well as “lots of full-color photographic scenes.” The player will also receive a code to be able to download all the paperwork should they choose to.
Tactical RPGs based on popular franchises are a common occurrence and, if anything, production seems to have increased of late. Late last year, a Metal Gear Solid tactical RPG was announced as being developed for release in 2019, while a tabletop RPG based on Dune is set to be released in line with the reboot of the movie.
