[UPDATE]: inXile has released a second screenshot for its upcoming role-playing game. Give it a look below.
[Original Story]:
Torment: Tides of Numenera, the crowd-funded spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment, has just received its first official screenshot.
According to inXile's Kevin Saunders, the image above is an “environmental screenshot for Torment: Tides of Numenera. This scene is within the Bloom, and was created using a 2D pre-rendered background technique.”
For those that don't already know, the Bloom is a "vast, semi-sentient predator, a monstrous, organic creation that extends its tendrils through the folds of reality," and those who dare to travel within could very well be sent to another world. The studio describes it as "a hub, a center of commerce for those who trade in the relics of other worlds."
In addition, Pat Rothfuss, the New York Times best-selling fantasy writer, will help craft the game's story. The game's Kickstarter has just four more days left, and is currently at $3,271,323. That's a lot of dough.
So, who's excited?
