Fortnite Avengers: Endgame LTM teased on Twitter

Epic Games is teasing a Fortnite Avengers: Endgame LTM. This comes just before the much-awaited film hits theaters this week.

The official Fortnite Twitter account posted a promotion containing an image of a Fortnite character wielding Captain America’s shield, with a message below reading “Whatever it takes.” Marvel has been using this phrase as part of its general marketing for Avengers: Endgame.

In addition to this, the post also includes a date: April 25, 2019. Avengers: Endgame releases on April 26 in the US, however some countries get it earlier on April 24 or April 25. It’s likely that April 25 will be when the new LTM lands in the game.

The question now is what the Fortnite Avengers: Endgame entails. A few weeks ago, data miners had found files hinting that, at the very least, Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet would return.

Last year’s Infinity Gauntlet LTM changed the dynamics of the game’s regular battle royale mode. The Infinity Gauntlet would appear on the map some time after players had dropped in. Whoever picked it up would be transformed into Thanos and gain access to a host of powers. As Thanos, players could use a knockback punch that also destroyed structures, a ground pound that similarly knocked opponents back, a damage-over-time energy blast, and a super-jump.

The promotional image showing an in-game character holding Captain America’s shield hints that Fortnite players may be getting more than the return of the Infinity Gauntlet LTM. At the very least, this could mean that players are getting Avengers-related cosmetic items.

However, there exists an even more enticing idea: Could the image be hinting at players being able to wield the Avenger’s iconic weapons and powers in a revised Infinity Gauntlet LTM? Players with these items would then be taking the role of the Avengers as they take on Thanos and try to avenge the mad titan’s victims. We’ll know for sure when the Fortnite and Avengers crossover event goes live later this week.
