Call of Duty 2019 announced for E3 Coliseum showcase

It’s always a bit unusual that we don’t get confirmation of the annual Call of Duty game until the midpoint of the year. Sure, we’ve heard whispers about a new Modern Warfare, but at this point, but nothing is set in stone. However, it won’t be too much longer, as Infinity Ward has big plans in store next month.

The official E3 Expo Twitter account confirmed today that it will bring back the E3 Coliseum. This showcase, hosted by Geoff Keighley, features a number of developers talking about their games and experiences. And Infinity Ward, developer of Infinite Warfare, is headlining this year’s showcase.

Though a scheduled time wasn’t given for the panel just yet, it will focus on the next chapter in the Call of Duty series. Check out the tweet below:

We’ll more than likely see other announcements follow in the months ahead, since the show is just over a month away.

Since it reported its financial numbers last week, a lot of attention has gone towards what Activision has planned next. Call of Duty 2019 plays a big part in those plans, especially if it will go back to its traditional single-player campaign. As you may recall, Black Ops 4 didn’t have a story mode, instead opting for more multiplayer-oriented offerings.

The company did note that it would reveal the new Call of Duty game soon. But it’s unknown if it’ll be doing so before E3, or during the three-day event.

We’ll let you know if Activision reveals any of its plans for the weeks ahead. Hopefully, we’ll know sooner rather than later if we can expect the return of the Modern Warfare franchise.
