Sony State of Play May 30 conference to focus on The Last of Us 2 – Report

A rumored Sony State of Play May 30 conference is coming and it’s apparently going to have a heavy focus on The Last of Us 2 according to multiple Spanish-language sources. Two separate websites have announced rumors of an upcoming trailer, an exploration of the game’s story, and the announcement of The Last of Us 2 release date.

The first of the two sites (first brought to our attention by @Nibellion on Twitter) is It states that a new trailer will be debuting on May 29, perhaps as part of a State of Play presentation. Furthermore, Gamereactor states that we’ll get some more information on Death Stranding in the same presentation.

Legion de Jugadores, meanwhile, says that they have a source which tells them that something about The Last of Us 2 will be arriving this week. A subsequent article elaborates, stating that there will be a Sony State of Play May 30 conference which will show off “gameplay and history” of the highly-anticipated title from Naughty Dog. Furthermore, Legion de Jugadores states something we’ve all been curious about: The Last of Us 2 release date will be sometime in November 2019.

As always, it’s important to note that these are rumors. Legion de Jugadores states that they have a reliable source close to the company, but they haven’t provided any evidence of this publicly. There is also the possibility that their source is pulling their leg or is simply a very well-crafted hoax, so take these rumors with a grain of salt.

There’s been a bit of radio silence surrounding this game as of late, but the rumored Sony State of Play May 30 conference may very well happen. Sony isn’t attending E3 2019 (and Square Enix has already snapped up their timeslot), so any big announcements would likely be prior to one of the industry’s biggest events so they can hold onto a bit of the news cycle for themselves. In either case, we’ll find out whether or not this rumor is true in just a couple of days.
