Need For Speed Rivals Announced, [Update: Next-Gen Teaser Trailer Added]

Electronic Arts has announced that a new entry in the Need for Speed franchise, subtitled Rivals, will be launching across current-gen, next-gen, and PC hardware later this year.

Need for Speed Rivals is being developed by Ghost Games on the Frostbite 3 engine. The studio is also working on a brand new feature for the franchise, dubbed AllDrive, which allegedly blurs the lines between single and multiplayer by allowing gamers to seamlessly make the jump from playing alone to playing with a group of their gaming buds.

As expected, Autolog will return as well, which has proven to be a staple feature of the series.

Rivals is currently scheduled to release for current-gen platforms on November 19th. We'll have to remain patient for news on when next-gen versions of the game will be available, but EA assures us they'll be out by year's end.
