Microsoft Announces Halo: Spartan Assault For Windows 8

It looks like we'll be getting a new Halo title this year after all, though, probably not not in the form that gamers were expecting and/or hoping. Microsoft has just unveiled Halo: Spartan Assault, a top-down twin-stick shooter for Windows 8 devices.

The game is set to launch this July, and features a gorgeous visual style that marries nicely with the rest of the Halo universe. Players will be able to customize their character's load-out, freely roam the expansive battlefield, and even be able to board vehicles just like one would in any other Halo game. Needless to say, very few compromises have been made in the transition to a top-down style.
