Everwild, new IP, announced by Rare alongside Sea of Thieves update

Rare is adding yet another new IP to its stable. Everwild was announced today at the X019 event. Even though we don’t currently know much about it, Rare also went into detail on its existing game, Sea of Thieves, which will sea see a slew of new content.

Everwild‘s announcement was quite vague but Rare spoke a little bit about the mysterious new title. It’s still early in development, hence the lack of details, but Rare says it is “very excited about the unique potential of the game [it is] creating.”

“The Everwild team is focused on building an experience that allows for new ways to play in a natural and magical world,” said the press release. “The development team, led by Executive Producer Louise O’Connor, is creating something truly original and incredibly special that aims to be more than just anew IP. Everwild will give you memorable, engaging, and meaningful experiences for players everywhere to share. We cannot wait to share more with you in the future.”

It’s not much to go on but O’Connor has worked at Rare since 1999 and has worked on titles like Conker’s Bad Fur Day and Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts and has worked on everything from art to voice talent to an animator.

Sea of Thieves also got some love, too. The Seabound Soul update will come out November 20 and have new lore in the Tall Tale mission. Players will team up with Captain Pendragon to look into the Ashen Dragon, a mysterious ship. Firebombs will also come in this new update and can be thrown or loaded into cannons. And, of course, there will be new commendations and cosmetics to buy in the Pirate Emporium.
