The Pokemon Company apologizes for errors in Pokemon Sword and Shield guide

The Pokemon Company has apologized for errors published in the official Pokemon Sword and Shield guidebook, with the company noting that “multiple” mistakes were made in the strategy book.

The book reportedly contained several mistakes that weren’t spotted during the editing process, with The Pokemon Company stating that they “apologize for any inconvenience to our readers.” The message was issued on the company’s Japanese website, including a PDF containing all the errors contained in the guidebook (also printed in Japanese).

The letter reads:

“Thank you for always enjoying the “Pokemon” series.

In “Pokémon Sword Shield Official Guide Book Complete Story Strategies + Garal Encyclopedia” issued by Overlap Co., Ltd. on December 7, 2019, the data and data provided by Pokemon Co., Ltd. at the time of editing work are incorrect. Yes, and it turned out that there were multiple errors based on it.

We apologize for any inconvenience to our readers.”

The guidebook which contained the errors is different from the one available in the US, titled ‘Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield: The Official Galar Region Strategy Guide.’ As such, the errors only affects Pokemon’s Japanese audience.

The book with the errors was co-written by Shusuke Motomiya and One-Up, a collaborative team who had previously penned the Pokemon Let’s Go! guides, with supervision from The Pokemon Company and Game Freak. However, it seems that both companies were unable to spot the errors contained in this new guide before it was released to the general public.
