Valorant is the upcoming FPS from League of Legends creator Riot Games, with a recently released gameplay preview showcasing its team-based gameplay. Combining CS:GO‘s tactical shooting with Overwatch‘s hero-based abilities, the gameplay preview shows an internal developer playtest in the alpha version of the game.
Valorant is set to be released in summer 2020, operating on 128-tick servers to ensure a competitive environment. It will place players in 5v5 match-ups, where guns will be combined with “hypernatural” powers that will allow characters to perform unique abilities.
According to Riot, the developer is targeting 60 to 144 FPS on modern gaming rigs, and it is focused on anti-cheat from day one. It seems the company is going all-out in order to make Valorant a truly competitive experience, and is looking to make an impact on the FPS genre similar to League of Legends‘ overwhelming and sustained popularity.
