Pachter Calls Wii U “Dumbest Name Ever”

Leave it to Michael Pachter to further muck up what you should be thinking in response to the Wii U's reveal. A tablet controller? HD graphics? Super Smash Bros. across the Wii U and 3DS? Maybe your head is spinning. Let's look to a letter Pachter sent to investors to understand what all the business-people-types should be thinking about Nintendo's new hardware:

The most impactful 'reveal' at the show was the Wii U, which, in our opinion, is arriving two years too late. Depending on pricing, the system will be either a phenomenal success or a phenomenal failure, as competitive bundles for the Xbox 360 with Kinect and the PS3 with Move are likely to be priced below $300 by the time the Wii U launches.

When you're looking at a product that's not scheduled to be available even a year from now, how accurate are you going to be? Pachter continues:

Sony's presentation was solid, and the pricing on the PlayStation Vita (the second-dumbest name for a device after Wii U) was quite a surprise.

I'd say that the Wii U is the second dumbest name after the Wii, but yeah, the Vita is up there.
